I dont have a problem signing 1 yr agreement because my 140 will take at least another 8 months ( Feb 08) and by the time next years budget opens up for good new Jobs its already Mar 08.
But my concern is if my employer wants me to hang on with them till 485 is approved and then 1 more year

If that is your personal opinion, I'd respect that. If you are a member of IV core team, let me know because I will call to to have a conversation with you.
People, the bill is called "Comprehensive Immigration Reform". It can only be comprehensive if it takes into account the legal population and the illegal population. This bill could not come at a better time for us with the mid-term elections coming up. The Executive Branch of Government is pressuring for passage of this legislation. It will be a huge issue for the mid-term elections. The Republican House is in a no win situation, passage means amnesty (their words, not mine) and non-passage makes them look ineffective. For now all we can do is sit back and wait and watch. It will take the majority of the house spin doctors a while to figure out how to proceed with maximum benefit for the Republican Party. This is the nature of politics.

I am intrigued by the spirited discussions we have between different categories. Most of the discussions revolves around what is best for "me" which is justified to some extent. Why don't we take a step back and ask this question, what is it that all of our trying to achieve. If the intent is to make sure I get my green card before the other person can, we shouldn't be even thinking about working together and call ourselves a community. We are just wasting our time having discussions and trying to compete among each other. No one initiative will gather steam if that becomes our intent and goal.
In my mind, we have to think of every one of us as one. Yes, there should be classifications, yes there should be qualifications, years of experience, all that in place. However I believe everyone in this community is "qualified" enough to get a green card in a "reasonable" amount of time.

Well, I am a legal immigrant from Mexico, I have an MBA, my race is white (100% European as are more than 10 million Mexicans) and I do not wear a "sombrero".
I thought that this forum was for us all to help each other and not enter these types of useless arguments. I cannot believe that the posters of these racist messages, who are Indian, are falling into the same sterotypes that Americans fall into in regards to India. You are doing that with Mexico. I have been to India, I urge you to go to Mexico and see for yourselves what the country is like before passing judgment.
Mexico has 100 million people vs. India's 1 Billion plus, yet Mexico's GDP is essentially equal to India's (India = 775,410, Mexico=768,437). All the people that you see immigrating here are of course the poor and uneducated who can come here in large numbers because of the simple fact that (hello people!) we share a land border with the U.S.A. (What would happen if India shared a land border with the U.S.A. - One can only imagine! Instead of 7 million illegal Mexicans, we would have 400 million illegal Indians here!) I invite you to visit Mexico, where in some parts you will think you are in Sweden. And again, yes! have been to India!

Totally agree.. Can you tell which law has been broken by them.
They didnt break a single law.
USCIS broke a law last month by not accepting the EB3 Other workers, even when the bulletin said that the numbers were avaible.
But this time , they just did something morally wrong ( that 2 i am not sure, based upon what i have read so far, which are more or less speculations)
DOS updated the bulletin , for which they have full legal rights,
and USCIS just follwed it, No Law was broken,atleast i cant see, which law was broken.

just sent e-mail to ombudsman. I would encourage all of you to send e-mail regarding FP delay. it did help in getting receipt notices. Please do it for FP also.

Like many others on these forums, I have given up significant opportunities because I believed mistakenly that the GC mess would be cleared up in 2-3 years. Sometimes that does lead to extreme frustration - My wife often jokes that when I do actually receive my GC, I will have lost a very convenient excuse that the lack of one is holding me back. :-)
To those who are starting down this path, I have this piece of unsolicited advice. If you feel that you are depressed and this is affecting your health and/or your family, it may be best to move on - the world is a big place, full of opportunity; opportunities that cannot be quantified by an O*NET job code. I have a unique position. couple of weeks back I was told that have fatal cancer and won't live pass 4-6 months. After recovering from initial shock I am wondering if my wife will be able to continue her american dream or she will have to head home after me.
I have filed 485 with approved 140 back in june, 2007 with PD of March, 2003

This is the most shocking of the threads, I have ever read. I know it needs lot of courage to go through what you are going through. MAY GOD BLESS you with a long life and gives courage and wisdom to your family. Getting another opinion from a reputed hospital should be your top most priority. MUST GET SECOND OPINION. Miracles do happen. A friend of mine survived for almost 12 years after the doctors told him 6 months.
I will keep you in my daily prayers and I AM SURE with so many hands folded in prayers for you, GOD will have to SHOWER with his choicest blessings and MAY YOU LIVE LONG.
Contact the IO diectly with all the medical documents and I am sure they are HUMAN too and some one will definately be there for you to help.
I am out of words and do not know as to how I can be of any help to YOU and YOUR family. PLS. do not hesitate to contact me.

Did not file AP or EAD because I was think it may slow down my application, but I was just guess on this beside I don't need to change job or travel.
