Guys i finally received our receipt notices on Sept 24th 2007.
Self and spouse I-485/EAD/AP filed @ NSC on Aug 07th 2007
Receipt Date: August 08th 2007
Notice Date: Sept 14th 2007
LUD: 09/18/2007 on 485/EAD/AP
LUD: 08/12/2007 on I-140 pending at TSC.
Awaiting my FP notice/EAD/AP/I-140 approvals.

Please read my signature section below for the progression of my applications. I am relieved that USCIS actually has my applications and can rest assured that those documents will sit on someone's desk or shelf for God knows how long ;)
It took more or less 30 days to process my filing, and hopefully you will see that happening as well.

Is there any way we can work for our US employer from India on Indian salary? I am thinking a consulting company with presence in US and India (Manpower??) can set this up for us. So we will just be living in India and working remotely for the employer as a consultant. We will be paying indian taxes as the consulting company will be indian. Any thoughts?

Any idea how long it takes for a decision once it has been assigned to an officer?
My wife's case was assigned to an officer on Aug 11th.
in my case iwas exactly 3 weeks.
Someone else mentioned on this forum that the officer will clear all the cases assigned to him/her within 30 days.

On March 26, 2009, Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) introduced S. 729, the DREAM Act, which would allow states to offer in-state tuition rates to long-term resident immigrant students. The bill also would allow certain long-term residents who entered the United States as children to have their immigration or residency status adjusted to conditional permanent resident status or permanent resident status. Had raised a SR for dependent on 5th August . Got standard reply .....initial review, wait for45 days....
Infopass on 10th Aug - was told case is pre adjudicated
Opened SR on the 11th of August for primary . ....Have not yet got any reply for that.
Today got email - Card production ordered.

My wife and i got emails from USCIS and we checked our status online and it is now CPO. The approval is based on my wife's applicatiion ( EB2 India, Dec 2005). I had two applications one as her dependent and another my own that is EB3 I, Jan 2004.

Based on the same logic, I would say that the job of stopping discrimination against EAD/H1B etc. is mainly the responsibility of Citizens and GC holders. It is their country; it is up to them to fix it.
There are laws in place, already, for discrimination against applicant having proper work authorization.
If the affected person does not report or take action, then nothing will happen. It is high time that "highly skilled workers" aware of their rights. Sanju mentioned a term "educated illiterates" for such reasons.
Many consulting companies do not pay salary on bench. If the employee does not report to DoL, will he/she get his/her salary? No. The issue of discrimination is on the similar lines.
There is no requirement for employer to consider any applicant who is on H-1B visa status. It is entirely voluntary and upto the employer whether to sponsor H1 visa or not. Same thing holds good for sponsoring green card as well.

Guys even H1B increases are not that bad. A lot of our spouses could get jobs on h1b if it was open just now. Ultimately isint that what we want? Both husband and wife working?
I know that it could have a possible effect on the EB but I think a LOT of our spouses could work if the H1B quota was available. I know atleast 2-3 such friends whose wives can easily get jobs if the H1B was open.
Provided you bypass those apps that consulting companies line up at the start of the year. This is what Microsoft/Intel etc are trying to counter. They are not getting enough of the H1Bs themselves.
